Our Goal

 

At Roots Dayhomes Inc. our goal is to have the Dayhome feel like an extension of your child’s own home, it is their space to learn in and explore. At Roots we believe the most important part of childcare is education through experience and play. Another fundamental part of Roots is the building of a strong and loving relationship with the child and the childcare provider.

 

Our Philosophy

 

Meaghan DaDalt is the owner and visionary force behind Roots Dayhomes Inc. Meaghan has 10 years experience as a child care provider in multiple daycare and dayhome settings. She has worked as a program planner and primary caregiver for both youth and after-school kindergarten programs, in addition to, the program planning and delivery for municipal children's programs. Meaghan has always enjoyed her time working with children, believing whole-heartedly that children come first. Through her past experiences, she has witnessed children taking the back seat to the institutional rules, regulations and efficiency practices in large childcare centres. This has motivated her to offer her own childcare service in which the child's needs are at the forefront.  In a Roots Day Home your child will be provided with a loving atmosphere, one with an environment that provides the opportunity to learn and grow. We believe the relationship between the child and their childcare provider carries a great deal of importance for the child. The children need to feel safe, happy, comfortable and loved, to express themselves in any which way they know how. We encourage individuality and leadership. We are happy to provide children with this opportunity in our day home setting(s).

Staffing

 

The staff hired for this will be like-minded people. You can expect the most loving and creative of childcare providers when picking Roots Day homes. All staff will have their Standard First Aid CPR Certification, a Criminal Record Check clearance, and of course, Meaghan’s passing stamp of approval. Roots Dayhomes will also have a sub list, this means you will not have to worry about the caretakers holiday times and/or personal days.

The staffing goal: we will very much be like our own little community, within the community of Cochrane, making it better as a whole.

 

 

Curriculum

 

As a part of the Von Premium Childcare Network, we use their Curriculum written by a former teacher who specialized in working with ages 3-8 yrs of age. The idea behind the curriculum is to integrate learning opportunities with out any screen time and formost, to have fun while learning.

 

Within the curriculum you will find literacy activities, song and dance, drama, story telling, letter sounds, rhyming, games and word experience. One of Roots Dayhomes biggest goal is to offer many of these activities outdoors whenever and wherever possible. Meaghan enjoys sharing her passion for nature and the outdoors, and wants to promote its importance to the staff and children in this technology driven society kids are being raised in these days. In the Preschool Program, an Emergent Curriculum is also used; a curriculum that changes weekly based on the interest(s) of the children. 

 

Some of the topics covered in the Curriculum include Outer Space, Animals, Fairy Tales/Nursery Rhymes, Seasons, Transportation, Dinosaurs, Insects, Water, the Human Body, and Shapes.
